How long do oil paints take to dry?

I did a small piece on canvas on Sunday and it still isn't dry......did i have to add something or do i just have to be patient :)How long do oil paints take to dry?
It depends on how thick you paint everything. Some paintings can take up to 6 months to fully dry. This website says 9 though ...

here's some more sources, good luck %26amp; happy painting! How long do oil paints take to dry?
It depends of the medium, and the way you paint.

If the medium is White Spirit or terebentine, it would take no more than acouple of weeks.

If you paint with oil as a medium, it takes at least a year to dry completely, and even more if you paint with a painting knife and you ';plaster'; a lot of painting on your frame.

Good luck with your painting!
Normally about 48hrs. However different colours dry at different rates. Eg burnt sienna tends to dry much more quickly than zinc white. Also if the paint is quite thick, add an extra 24 hours.

This is, imo, the beauty of painting in oils - you can re-work areas the next day.

You can always put the painting in a nice warm room which will help it to dry more quickly, other than that yes I'm afraid patience is required.
oil colour takes time to dry,u cant add anything now,but for the next time u can paint with oil painting and Scatif ,or even with tinner(a kind of petrolium)but u must be carfull, working with tinner must be in an open area without fire, heat, cigarette and etc...it may explose. i think u'd better to use Scatif. any way,u can use acrylic colours too,u can use it with water or oil....it will dry very quickly.good luck.
It depends some on how many layers you usedm, and if you added any oils or thinners to your paints. You can buy oils (at Michaels) that will speed up the process of drying. You can also buy ones to thicken, thin, slow drying, matte colors, add gloss to color, and more. Do a little web browsing and see which oils work best for you!

I used quite a bit of paint in my first oil painting. It took one month to dry.
3-4 days if painted thinly, longer if thick paint is used.
IT CAN TAKE A LONG TIME , PATIENCE
