yep.. try to ask for help with your art teacher or professorI need to know how do i start oil painting? i have a kit and i dont know if i need to mix anything.?
Personally I never liked oil paints, too much too deal with and take forever to dry ( but that s why some people lik ethem )

I would say go take a class at a local jr. college or community center.

there is a lot of '; tricks'; to learn.
Begin with stencils. Stencil with an erasable pencil or chalk the figure or image you want on the canvas and then paint within the borders of the stencil or spray paint inside the stencil.
Just go for it and feel the vibe, be carfull not to make a mess though becosue it stains and can catch fire! HAve fun and relaisze your 1st pic won't be a masterpeice
the linseed oil is to thin the oil paint down. No idea what durotine is though! Google it maybe?

Start a painting with thinned paint and mark out the main bits. As a rule, you should work from thin paint to thick as this is better to cover up mistakes early on, but if your using a pallet knife, the paint must be thick.

As for your canvas, make sure it's primed(painted white)or your painting will not work.

Good luck and have fun with a very malleable medium!
Yer here you go beach girl!

This link seems to be a very good place to start. As mentioned above, you can ask some one but they'll be encouraged if you already know a few things first =)

You'll feel better too!
Get turpentine to clean up afterwards and to dilute the paint initially. The first coats need to be diluted with more turpentine and less oil, and as you add coats, increase the oil and eliminate the turpentine altogether. Good luck!
I think the sights other people told you to look up will help. Don't know 'durotine' - but I guess its a turp's substitute... a less smelly one.

I would ignore the linseed oil %26amp; buy ';Liquin'; winsor %26amp; newton make it. Its a quick drying version of linseed oil. Still use the turps though. (Or white spirits)

Ventillated area is good too. Lots of old jars to wash your brushes out in. Mixing palette- anything will do, a bought one, an old piece of wood or plastic. Lots of rags needed too. Also always leave yourself enough time to clean up!!

Remember ';fat over lean'; That is start the first layers just blocking down colour with paint diluted only with turps/white spirits. if you try and lay down thick paint first you will fail!

Make sure your canvas or whatever support you are using is primed. Have fun
this site might be of help

i dont paint oil though ..but get major knowledge from this site on acrylics

have fun and enjoy painting

god bless
