How do I get oil paints to mix with water & put on paper?

MY KIDS DID IT IN SCHOOL, MIXED OIL PAINTS WITH WATER TO GET DIFFERENT COLOURED PATTERNS ON PAPER.How do I get oil paints to mix with water %26amp; put on paper?
do mean marbling? you need to thin the oil paints with white spirits then drop into a bowl of water, then place the paper on the water. experiement with different mixes of colours xHow do I get oil paints to mix with water %26amp; put on paper?
oil %26amp; water mix,

cause rights and wrongs, basically one assumes you are not suppose to combine an oil product with a water product, this would make sense ';not'; to put anti-freeze in you're engine oil, and motor oil in your radiator, (yet they do put antifreeze in some of your oil and vinegar salad dressing ~Propylene Glycol~allergies)

yet we're talking about art first , mediums second, you mention patterns, which implies mixed mediums on the pallette and paper, so ok , try it mix oil paints and water/ colours in a bowl or plate or other and , doodle away, theres also acrylics, which are water base, yet note that acrylics are plastic~(from oil base), and with correct blending one could use either way, water colours are mostly pigment, no oils or plastic, just add water as you go, new tubes have water premixed, so as previously mentioned, there are various ways of going about the technique, best ask your kids what they used if urgent, it was mostly in fun, being art, and there are water soluble oils available,

Unfortunately, you can't get oil and water to mix. But I am going to assume you are wanting a swirl painting.

To do this you will need some very light oil (like baby oil), oil paints and a tub of water.

Take the baby oil and mix a very small amount of oil paint into it, this will mix and form a runny liquid. Then slowly pour this liquid onto the surface of the water. Add different colour as required and swirl slowly with a small tooth-pick.

Place your paper gently on the surface to lift the paint from the water surface and leave to dry.
There is a type of oil paint that mixes with water, but generally oil paints don't mix with water, which is why we use solvents like turpentine with them. Not good around kids though ...
Yeah, they probably did, cuz oil and water don't mix
Mix oil paints with white spirit to watery consistency and float the colours on a tray of water. Lay good quality cartridge paper on top, lift off carefully and lay out to dry: that is how you make marbled effect.
you being serious......... they wont mix never ever .sorry do you mean wax not oil if you put wax on paper then paint .well you no wot happens.............
if you live in uk then go to hobbycraft, elc or even focus or homebase. if not then check on ebay. or make your own with 4 parts poster paint(or food couloring)and mix well with one half_part cooking oil. my kids love painting and i have tried loads of ideas and the last few have worked out the cheapest!

good luck!!!!!
The best paints to use for marbleizing are the oil-based model-paints you can get at craft stores (Testers paints), they are very thin and will float nicely in water. Just fill an old 9x13 pan with 1-2 inches of water, drip a couple of drops of paint into the water and swirl a little with a plastic fork. Then you can gently lay a sheet of paper on the surface of the water and then lift it off by a corner. You should be able to make 2-3 sheets of paper this way before adding more paint.
don't think they did Hun, you cant mix gloss with Matt when decorating, oil based paints need white spirit, water based paints like Matt can be mixed x
