How To Varnish An Oil Painting?

What are the steps, supplies, and techniques to applying varnish on an oil painting? Thanks for any help. How To Varnish An Oil Painting?
In my view (and I'm not alone in this) Your finger and some oil paint varnish. You can wrap your finger in a piece of cloth but this may leave strands in the varnish so it is not recommended.

Either poor a little on your canvas that you have laid out on a table or put some on the tip of your finger.

In small circular motions gently rub the varnish on the canvas. Make sure you see the varnish leave a smooth trace. Not even your fingerprints will leave a mark. :)

Work from upper left to the right (if you are right handed). Then start over on your left below and overlap the area you just did a bit.How To Varnish An Oil Painting?
If you use a brush go a different direction for each layer (usually 3)
I always hear that before varnish use a retouchable varnish first for the first layer and then a spray varnish for the second. So if ever you need to spray it in so many years later it can be removable for later and then reapplied. Some of my earlier works I just sprayed it with a varnish spray. So many ways that it can be done.
