I did an oil painting recently, and it has been 5 days (May 12), ever since I finished it. It is still wet. I used liquid white on the canvas and then I used store bought oil paint. Can I do anything to make it dry faster? How long does it take oil paint to dry? (Oil on wet canvas)?
Depends on what oil paint you bought. Go to the store or contact the manufacturer. How long does it take oil paint to dry? (Oil on wet canvas)?
The more oil you add (to your paint) the faster it dries, but it dilutes your paint. My paintings dry in about 2 days...But I'm just a beginner.
If all else fails, blow on it =)
It just depends. The top layer always dries first, but inside the layer, it is still wet. Sometimes it helps to put liquin in your painting, it helps make it dry alot quicker. But also you can add turpenoid, turpetine substitute. I have a few oil paintings, my self-portrait took 2 weeks to dry for the first layer. But I like lot of texture in my work. So it just depends on you. I hope that made some sense. If you not, you can always email me.
