How to make it sure if the paint in the wall is oil paint or water base.?

Thanks in advance.

Newbie here. How to make it sure if the paint in the wall is oil paint or water base.?
if it's been painted in the past 35 years, then it is latex, you can be sure.

before that it's a dicey call. try the taste test, if it is sweet then it is leaded and is oil, or you can get a lead test kit from a paint store, which is what i recommendHow to make it sure if the paint in the wall is oil paint or water base.?
Well... latex can come in gloss and semi-gloss so if the paint is shiny, it may not necessarily be oil. I will say that oil-based paint is rarely used on houses, especially indoors.

Maybe you should try asking this in the home %26amp; garden category.
Wall paint is unlikely to be oil based (unless it is very old - before acrylic was invented).

Oil based paints are more likely to be used on exposed timber.

Remember you can always paint Oil over Acrylic.

But NEVER Acrylic over Oil:It would just rub off with the lightest touch
if its shiny i would say oil paint but if its water based it would be dull.
