How to paint oil based cabinets?

hmmm.. oil based cabinets? you mean using oil based paint?. id say sand them down, and put a coat of primer on the cabinet. that way the paint wont soak into the cabinets and make the finish bad. just be careful, b/c oil based paints will stain anything and everything..How to paint oil based cabinets?
Trisa,

If you don't wish to sand down to bare paint, you coulds just wash and make sure the surface is clean. Then re-paint with another oil-based paint. If you use water-based latex, it would adhere nd you'll be able to scratch it off with your thumbnail.

When I re-painted my laundry cabinets, folks cautioned me about having oil-based paint, and what I had to do in order to ';convert'; to latex paint. But hey, I decided to stay with oil-base (Ithink it gets a bad rep just because you have to use a thinner for clean-up). Anyway, oil-base looks beterr, IMO, because it flows out and prevents brush marks.
